To: The Future Successful Me #7

How time rolls when you turn your back. We should all sleep with one eye open, to make sure no one's cheating us of our hours on earth. Whenever a new year starts, I feel as if I could've made more of the past year. Most of us are like that. We want to want to go back to fix wrongs, say things we should've, or shut up when we didn't. Another part of us stalls forwards; we await the future, hoping for fortune and power. But no one really appreciates the present.

I, for one, know that I rarely live in the moment. There are rare occasions, say, the Formal, where I can completely let go and not think of what I just did, or what I will do, but of what I am doing. But then it's over, and I find myself living in the past again; reliving it over and over, thinking wistfully about how good it was. Or I look forward to the next formal and plan plan plan.

So for the year 2009, instead of making stupid resolutions that I know I wont follow, or ones that will last for half a year before they don't apply, I'll make a universal resolution that anyone and everyone should follow.

Live in the present, enjoy and moment, and die without regrets. This means saying things before they're too late, never having to think 'if only...' or 'what if...'. Say what you have to, when you have to, but think before you do. Don't regret what couldn't have been prevented, learn from your mistakes instead of wallowing in self pity, and never think of what is lost, instead, think of the experience you have gained, the memories you have been left with, or the lesson you have learnt.

Say 'AYE' and agree.
