Skin Deep

I finally found some time to gather up my favourite beauty products. I would consider myself a pretty good judge, considering the time and money I spend trying to test everything there is (I think it's an OCD kind of thing, it applies to food and furniture too).

1. Chi Chi Lip Lacquer Wand in 'Fashion Victim', $15: Favourite lipgloss of the moment, it's a sheer red-cherry colour so you can get away with wearing it in the day, and the brush they provide is actually a brush which makes application heaps easier. The consistency is perfect so it's neither too oily nor watery. Plus it tastes like raspberry jelly!

2. Yves St Laurent Touche Eclat in #2, $90: Seriously the best beauty product ever invented. It's basically a highlighter, I use it in conjunction with concealer for undereyes but it does heaps of other things too, like highlight your cheekbones or make your lips poutier or hide your acne. And it also blends wonderfully on your skin, doesn't go dry or cakey, and lasts heaps long. Only problem is, it stinks up a little bit so you'll need to clean the built in brush regularly.

3. Blistex Lip Conditioner, $4: it's great for winter, it smells funky in a good kind of way (sort of), AND it makes your lips feel like they're on fire, in a good kind of way. No really, your lips feel super duper fizzy and cool, so you can FEEL it working!!

4. Benefit Boiing Concealer in #2, $35: Best concealer out there (I'm quite serious, I've tried so many and this is the best they've got). It feels really weird and greasy except theres no grease, and it's pretty heavy duty so it can hide any pimple or eyebag. It also holds well and doesn't dry out as fast as the others. However, it can get a little cracky in winter, but combining it with the Touche Eclat should solve this problem.

5. Napolean Perdis Pasarella Powder Foundation Set, Light, $30: Good all-purpose powder, it's really light and theres even an airing compartment under the sponge so it doesn't go all gross. Due to its lightness, it's not really great for covering discolouring or acne, it just lightly evens out your skintone.

1. L'Oreal Pro Manicure 'Apple Of My Eye' Nail Polish, $5: It deserves a mention for the name alone. It's the perfect shade Fire-Engine-Red, I wear it constantly now.

2. Rimmel I Love Lasting Finish 'Black Cherries' Nail Polish. $5: My second favourite nail polish, the colour is so demure but funky at the same time.

3. Rimmel Lasting Finish Intense Wear Lipstick in 'Birthday Suit', $10: Another product that deserves a mention based on its name. It's a pinkish nude lipstick, so you can achieve the neutral look without looking like a statue. It's not that thick though, so you have to blend it out.

4. Chi Chi Lipstick in 'Exhibitionist Matte': Lovely scarlet-red in colour, but I haven't had the opportunity to wear this out anywhere yet. I do, however, spend copious amounts of time applying it randomly because it looks and feels wonderful. It's quite thick, and it's not just red but shocking red, so you might want to apply it thin or blend it with something else.

1.Formula 10.0.06 Deep Down Detox Mud Mask, $14 It smells really nice, and it'll make your face literally as smooth as a baby's bottom when you're done. Literally. I have difficulty stopping myself from stroking my face after I'm through with one of these masks, it removes all the oil and blackheads and tightens all the pores, and makes your face feel the cleanest it's been since you were born.

2. Echo by Davidoff, $80: Current perfume that I wear everywhere. It's fresh, floral and fruity at the same time. However, despite being an Eau de Parfum, it doesn't stay on very long. This one's a little too wishy washy for me at the moment, so I'm considering switching to Midnight Fantasy by Britney Spears (Yes I objected to celebrity perfumes too, until I sniffed Midnight Fantasy and found out that it smelled like a giant bag of gummi bears and skittles).

3. Bio Oil, $13: It does, despite what many impatient people may say, heal scars and burns and what not. I've found that over many months, scars and burns do fade, though burns seem to heal a lot faster. Your scar kind of fades in colour and in size, but you have to be willing to rub it on at least twice a day, everyday, if you want to see results within a couple of months.

4. Olay Complete Defence Daily UV Moisturising Lotion with SPF 30+, $15: Best moisturiser I've ever used. It's really light and dries quickly, it doesn't turn all bubbly white when you rub it on, and it actually does moisturise as well as protect your skin from the sun.

On a finishing note, here's something Jessica found that she thought I would like:
