Chanel- Sorry Karl Lagerfeld but I'm a tiny bit disappointed. Is it just me? Maybe I was expecting too much. That's what happens when you're a genius- people expect more and more from you each time, and if its brilliant but not as brilliant as last time, people get disappointed. Don't get me wrong- I really liked it, but you really would expect more than lace stockings from Chanel. Lace stockings are for the little people. Two-toned stockings and other kinds of madness would be more appropriate. And you know what they say about shoes on the runway- go flat, or go super heeled, you don't float around in between.
Christian Dior- LOOOOOOOVED the show. It was different and unexpected, John Galliano is usually such a drama queen, but this time- everything was really subdued, and it was a nice surprise. There was no crazy makeup and no crazy shoes- All the red lipstick, garter belts, bustiers and lace had me hooked.
Christian Lacroix- really sad because it's potentially his last show. For those who haven't heard, the investors have pulled out, and he has been working unpaid for a while. The meagre collection of 24 looks was constructed entirely from volunteers- employees who were loyal to Lacroix and decided to stick around unpaid.
Elie Saab
Givenchy- I love that dress in the middle- the splash of red felt like a splash of cold water that woke me up. Serioussslyyy, I was sitting there, click click clicking through the collection on style.com, when KABOOMM! The red hit me across the face and I felt instantly alert. I think it's better than coffee (not that I'd know, I really hate coffee..)
Jean Paul Gaultier- Best. Couture. Show. EVER. Oh hot damn, this show was like sex on legs. The red lipstick! The sex hair! The massive fur coats! The crazy dominatrix bodysuits! The slinky metallic dresses!! I DIE! I DIE!!!
Valentino
I have dived head first into these holidays. I have already watched a handful of movies (including Breakfast at Tiffany's- I can't stop singing 'Moon River', the song is beautiful), finished sewing my D&T dress (oh but that was the easy part, I still need to cut out 260 rectangular pieces of CDs, and handstitch on hundreds of little cotton tips), redecorated my room (will blog about this in near future), and bought enough books to last me five years (at outrageously cheap prices too!).
