First off, lets talk shoes. I'm estatic about these wedges I bought today:
$40 from $170, from Siren. I almost had a heartattack when I saw them. IT WAS LIKE FATE. I was in a random shoe shop looking for shoes for the cruise, when my eyes fell on them. A quick glance at the price made my heart start to race. And after finding that they were the perfect size (the two other pairs in the shop were both size 9) my brain exploded with joy.
And as you probably could've guessed, I didn't end up buying my cruise shoes. I'm still looking around, but I have my eye on two. WHICH DO YOU LIKE BETTER:
They're both from Siren, so I expected them to be knock-offs. I did quick research, and HA I WAS RIGHT:
Alexander Mcqueen Ruffle Sandals
Miu Miu Whipstitch Pumps
I don't exactly mind that they're knockoffs. I just feel slightly annoyed that they're getting heaps of my money for something they didn't design. But it's not like I have much of a choice- most of the affordable shoes around here are either horrendously ugly, or are knockoffs. Okay end rant, onto Rodarte.
According to style.com:
The idea that someone could "be scarred and still beautiful" was the collection's leitmotif, and it was about as far from some banal notion of "tribal fashion" as you could get. So where did this hallucination originate? A trip to Death Valley, and a corresponding obsession with singed land, sparked the sisters' imagination. That somehow evolved into a tale, part Mad Max, part Tim Burton, of a woman burned alive who is transformed into a California condor. Forced to scavenge for existence in a barren, war-torn landscape, she pieces together her attire from rags that only serve to expose her wounds
Wait 'til you see the details:
ISN'T IT AMAZING. TELL ME YOU THINK IT'S AMAZING. I know I shouldn't blog about this in the middle of the week, especially when New York Fashion Week hasn't even ended yet, BUT IT BLEW ME AWAAAAAY. Everything from the runway to the smoke and the makeup and tattoos and how they burnt and sandpapered and dyed and ripped all the fabric and OH MY GOD THOSE SISTERS BEHIND RODARTE ARE GENIUSES.
I also really liked Marc Jacob's collection from yesterday but I figured blogging twice in one day wasn't a good idea. And shoving both of them into one post wasn't happening- they're amazing enough to deserve posts of their own. So expectMarc Jacobs tomorrow.
P.S. TELL ME WHICH SHOE SHOULD I GET. The ruffle ones or the peep toe ones.
