Sales to Break Your Nails

This may come as shocking news to some of you, but I have never, in the past 16 years of my rather short life, attended a Boxing Day sale. Until yesterday. And OH MY LORD, I AM NEVER EVER GOING AGAIN FOR AS LONG AS I SHALL LIVE. Trudging around both Myer and David Jones in the city, with hundreds or maybe thousands of other vile desperate bargain seekers, and finding NOTHING that you like, that'd fit you, that you'd pay for is not my idea of fun. But I did learn some valuable lessons in the meantime:

1. Don't wear heels. I thought wearing heels would give me the advantage of towering over people as well as being able to stab them in the foot, if a fight over a dress was to arise. But no, wearing heels makes you more likely to fall over when shoved.

2. Don't plan on spending a thousand dollars. Because you'll be disappointed (but secretly kind of relieved) when you spend less than a quarter of it.

3. Fuel up well and good. It's happened twice over the past two days now- where I decide to skip breakfast, thinking that I'll eat when I get there. But the promise of low prices is way more appealing than an empty stomach. Then I end up functioning for six hours on zero food.

4. Big bags are great. You use them as a kind of barricade against you and the people around you. You just hold it in front of you and walk through people and they just fly out of your path.

5. Be ruthless when in search of a bargain. Use your heels to step on people. Shove people aside with your bag. Pull clothes of hangers and open packaged makeup to try it on and leave tried shoes all over the floor.

Other than the fruitless five hours I spent in Myer and David Jones, I managed to score some great bargains elsewhere. Here's are some Christmas presents and purchases worth lengthening this post:

My first ever hat that actually came in a hat box!!! I'M OFFICIALLY A LAAAAAAAAAAADY NOW!

YAY fun with a floppy wide-brimmed sunhat!

LOL my shopping.

EEEEEEEEEE Siren Cage shoes for $50!!! They retail over $100, were on sale at Wanted for $100, and $70 at Myer. SCORE!!!

Cute bag with a leather teddybear charm thing I received for Christmas.

Bluebird bag + bag below purchased together for under $50 from Strandbags!

Diva Dreamcatcher necklace for only $5. Happiest purchase of the day.

Chi Chi red lipstick + lipgloss. I'm really digging fire-engine-red makeup look at the moment. I plan to write up a huge post of all my favourite beauty products soon, so STAY TUNED!

I love the names they give makeup shades. The above two colours of red are called 'Exhibitionist' and 'Fashion Victim'. Other than those, my two favourite shade names ever are 'Birthday Suit' for my nude Rimmel lipstick, and 'Apple of My Eye' for my favourite red L'Oreal nailpolish.

I bought a heap of clothing too but I didn't see the point of photographing them, since you guys are gonna see them at some point or other in outfit posts. However, I did take a picture of the dress below to commemorate my greatest score over the past two days:

Forever New bodycon dress for $30, marked down from $120. 75% OFF BROS. Not only is it insanely cheap, but I finally found the perfect little black dress to wear to my work cruise. YES, YOU HEARD RIGHT. My boss is throwing a work function on a boat, and I plan to wear my 'backup' idea that I had planned in case my first idea for the school cruise didn't work out. I'm going to end up wearing that black dress above, with scarlet pumps (Tony Bianco Dons hopefully, if they come in time), red nailpolish + red lipstick, and a huge gold statement necklace. I still have yet to find the gold statement necklace.

Anyway, I'm going to be busy for the next few days with New Years parties and working to catch up on my debt (whoops...), so expect pre-written outfit posts and random other crap.

P.S. I SPOTTED A FEW OF YOU IN DAVID JONES, hanging around the Sass and Bide racks. Except I didn't get the chance to say hi to anyone because there were like 50 other desperate shoppers between us.

P.P.S. MY FEET ARE LIKE LITERALLY BURNING. OKAY no they aren't on fire. But my veins and arteries are on fire. Or something, I don't know. The soles of my feet seriously seriously hurt. I don't know what to do. What if I get foot cancer or something. LET THIS BE A LESSON TO ALL YOU KIDDIES. DON'T WEAR HEELS OUT TO GO SHOPPING. TWO DAYS IN A ROW. It's probably the stupidest thing I've ever done.

Rodarte

First off, lets talk shoes. I'm estatic about these wedges I bought today:

$40 from $170, from Siren. I almost had a heartattack when I saw them. IT WAS LIKE FATE. I was in a random shoe shop looking for shoes for the cruise, when my eyes fell on them. A quick glance at the price made my heart start to race. And after finding that they were the perfect size (the two other pairs in the shop were both size 9) my brain exploded with joy.

And as you probably could've guessed, I didn't end up buying my cruise shoes. I'm still looking around, but I have my eye on two. WHICH DO YOU LIKE BETTER:

They're both from Siren, so I expected them to be knock-offs. I did quick research, and HA I WAS RIGHT:

Alexander Mcqueen Ruffle Sandals

Miu Miu Whipstitch Pumps

I don't exactly mind that they're knockoffs. I just feel slightly annoyed that they're getting heaps of my money for something they didn't design. But it's not like I have much of a choice- most of the affordable shoes around here are either horrendously ugly, or are knockoffs. Okay end rant, onto Rodarte.

According to style.com:
The idea that someone could "be scarred and still beautiful" was the collection's leitmotif, and it was about as far from some banal notion of "tribal fashion" as you could get. So where did this hallucination originate? A trip to Death Valley, and a corresponding obsession with singed land, sparked the sisters' imagination. That somehow evolved into a tale, part Mad Max, part Tim Burton, of a woman burned alive who is transformed into a California condor. Forced to scavenge for existence in a barren, war-torn landscape, she pieces together her attire from rags that only serve to expose her wounds

Wait 'til you see the details:

ISN'T IT AMAZING. TELL ME YOU THINK IT'S AMAZING. I know I shouldn't blog about this in the middle of the week, especially when New York Fashion Week hasn't even ended yet, BUT IT BLEW ME AWAAAAAY. Everything from the runway to the smoke and the makeup and tattoos and how they burnt and sandpapered and dyed and ripped all the fabric and OH MY GOD THOSE SISTERS BEHIND RODARTE ARE GENIUSES.

I also really liked Marc Jacob's collection from yesterday but I figured blogging twice in one day wasn't a good idea. And shoving both of them into one post wasn't happening- they're amazing enough to deserve posts of their own. So expectMarc Jacobs tomorrow.

P.S. TELL ME WHICH SHOE SHOULD I GET. The ruffle ones or the peep toe ones.

Celebratory Post For Future Self-Imposed Spending Ban

I really should be studying for Ancient History. But I'm not really in the mood for 5000 year old preserved icemen and their stomach contents, especially not while I'm eating ('cause that's all I do these days, study, eat and buy things). Speaking of buying things, I just spent my Ebay account to the ground, so I'm calling an official spending-ban. If you see me spending, please hit me. Anyway, due to demands, I'll post my purchases and other stuff from the past week. Savour it while it lasts, it'll be one of my final purchases post for a while:

I bought a heap of statement rings (as mentioned last week), here's my collection and a few of my favourites:

I was also fortunate enough to receive a free bag of Diva goodies. Yippee! Not what I'd usually buy, but nice to have:

Also as mentioned last week, I chopped several pairs of jeans into shorts. I still have yet to finish the second pair, but here's my first:

BEFORE:

AFTER:

This pair is mainly experimental for me to work on hem-picking techniques, as well as sandpapering the inside vs. sandpapering the outside (sandpapering inside makes the fluff blue, sandpapering the outside makes the fluff white, in case you were wondering).

The happiest news of all: I finally received my red patent Dr Martens! I was so giddy with excitement that I pranced around my house for practically half an hour in them after I received them:

Oh, and while I was taking pictures of all the above, I happened to glance over at my study table and almost shrunk back into the corner in disgust. I thought I'd share it with you, for the sake of lengthening this post:

Lets take a closer look at the floor:

Anyone in the mood for I spy? I spy with my little eyes, three empty drink bottles on the floor, a lost sock, three different hair appliances, and a lot of other yucky stuff. I'm surprised something dead hasn't popped up on my desk yet.

Anywhos, for those who don't know yet: I GOT MY HAAAAAAAAAIRCUTTTTTTT. I don't want to provide any pictures yet, I want to give enough time for the people who matter to see me in person with the new haircut, as opposed to finding it out on my blog first. But I'll describe it as best as I can: it's a pixie; really really short, shorter than most of the guys in my grade, with a choppy sidefringe and its all asymmetrical at the front (what's left of it). Yeah. That's just a warning, so you don't have a heart attack if you see me in person.

Anyway, I think I am prepared to take on the 5000 year old men and nine layers of Troy again! Au revoir!

P.S. For the readers who are in the know of my internetz life, no I'm not uncapped, I'm just dedicated LOLARGHS !

My Stress Pill

I know I said that I was going to do something “remotely” study-related everyday, but hey, I bet no one believed me. And I guess you all had every right to because frankly, I didn’t.

I did spend some time telling myself that Dude, This Is Your Preliminary Half Yearlies. That’s Right, pre-lim-in-ary. Start Studying Before It’s Too Late. I’d like to think that I actually go sick of my own self-nagging and started studying after a while, but Twitter knows that I only started making notes last night- pretty well into the night too, actually. I know, I suck.

So anyway. What have I been doing besides talking to myself like a lunatic?

On Tuesday, as you should know from Theresa’s post below, we hit the shops! I am incredibly happy with my purchases, especially since I am so broke at the moment. (Not that I’m ever not broke, I am still broke now and I was well, a little less broke than I am now, four days ago I guess.) Purchases:
Jay Jays shirt dress $15

Jay Jays skirt $15

Jay Jays tartan vest $30

Vivianna patent heels $20

Dotti high-waisted shorts $10

Cotton On shorts $2

That is right, those shorts were $2. And I'll admit I only bought them because they costed less than my lunch. I plan to wear them to run. I know I've been telling everyone that I plan to start running for two years or so and I still have yet to start, but I'm treating this as motivation. I have something to run in now! Running is so convenient now! That's right, that is how I roll.

Wednesday, a friend and I went to The University of Sydney for their ‘Degree in a Day’ program. I have found my dream uni. That place is so damn pretty, and everything there seems so... relaxing. Never mind the fact that this is the first uni I've ever been to, never mind that I haven't even given myself a chance to see other unis, I am going to Usyd.

We took the pharmacy course and made a cream. There is something extremely satisfying in watching a solution thicken into a creamy well, cream.

Isn't that label awesome? Makes it seem almost... authentic.

I'll admit, I don't have any clue what the purpose of an aqueous cream is, so I've been passing it off as magical anti-aging cream.

Alongside the two whole pizzas and six 600ml bottles of water the two of us managed to consume (gotta make the most of free food), we received:
My infamous stress pill.

I've been telling people of my "stress pill" lately (you know, stress ball, stress pill), and now they're all under the perspective that I have stress-management issues (can't blame them, I guess) and need to take medication to relieve myself or something. But I assure you readers, my stress pill is all I need. I will not be shooting anyone just yet.
