Fairy Floss

What I wore to UTS and USyd open day yesterday:

Knitted vest: found somewhere, skirt: self made, blazer: Bebe Sydney, necklace: Equip, bag: found somewhere, flats: Kmart.

That skirt is probably my favourite item in my wardrobe right now. I finished making it just last week (oh god organza is terrible to work with), and decided to take it out for a spin yesterday.

For those who are interested, yesterday pretty much involved getting lost, meeting nice people, spontaneous decisions, and carrying a Bonsai tree around the Museum of Contemporary Arts.

Anywho, just a warning that the amount that I post, and the regularity at which I post it will decrease for the next month or so- I have a model of a castle to build, an essay to write, and a heap of exams to study for.

Spectacular

It might fascinate you to know that I am part of the school band. We happened to go frolicking around Circular Quay on Tuesday- we were rehearsing for a big spectacular show that was on at night. We filled the gaps between all the rehearals by eating too much icecream, running lost and late, acting like tourists, acting like cavemen, acting like suited professionals, taking pictures of each other pretending to be all the above, and consuming ridiculous amounts of overpriced food ridiculously fast.

Anywho, GIRD YOUR LOINS, masses of photos coming through:

We met with this amazing silver man. He looks like Jesus and Kanye West's baby.

Van's debut into modelling. He tried to 'get into character' by putting on a deep voice and saying stuff like 'Well my presentation on Friday is coming along excellently, I think the CEO should be extremely impressed" whenever strangers enter hearing distance.

While waiting impatiently for our pancakes (yes pancakes for dinner, unheard of!), we grabbed our forks and knives and engaged in uncivilised ape behaviour (discreetly of course, we didn't want the waiters to call security).

After waiting ten minutes for single plate of pancakes, and having only ten minutes to eat and run quite a distance back to the assigned meeting point, we managed to eat our pancakes in under a minute. I am not exaggerating. My camera tells me this first picture was taken at 5:51, and the second at 5:52.

I don't have any actual photos of our performance- I do have a video, but I can't upload it just yet. I'll post the video next time I blog. In the meantime, here's a happy picture of the finale:

The Key to My Heart

Hooray for no-sleeve weather!

Sheer chiffon blouse from: oh god my eyeballs almost rolled out of their sockets from trying to read the tag on the blouse. Sorry, my eyeballs failed both of us. The tag is green, and I know I bought the blouse from Mink.

White singlet (worn under): Supre, shorts: found on Ebay, wedges: the brand has worn off, but I bought them from Wanted Shoes, bangles: a nice lady who wore a leopard-print scarf gave them to me while I was near the city. I suspect they are from Diva. Sunglasses: second-hand, necklace: found on Ebay. The necklace is très charmant:

My outfits always look a little incomplete because my arms appear so lonely. I don't have the latest Chanel handbag or some worn vintage satchel draped across my forearm.

I guess I'm more of a shoes-girl than a bag-girl. You don't need bags- I am perfectly content with holding my wallet. And on the rare occasion that I actually have credit in my phone, and hence have a reason to bring it with me, there are always pockets. It is probable that this is somewhat linked to the fact that I have drowned three phones in the washing machine. That's why I don't use washing machines or phones anymore. But that's another story, I'll tell it another day. (Just so you know, not using the washing machine doesn't mean I don't wash my clothes. That's gross!)

You do, however, need shoes. Well, I suppose you don't really neeeeed them. You could walk around barefoot, but my feet are awfully sensitive even when I have shoes on. So like I said, you do need shoes, and if you're going to need shoes, you might as well buy pretty shoes, right?

And that is why I have so many shoes, and an insufficient number of bags. So please excuse my lonely arms.

How To Have A Lovely Day

Using a funky font on photoshop to blog is more amusing:

How A Cupcake Should Feel

Silly me, I forgot to readjust the ISO settings since Friday's spinning-around session. Now my pictures are all blurry.

Bustier: found on Ebay, skirt: self made, blazer: thrifted, ankle boots: found on ebay.

Irrelevant fact: I decided to give pilates a try this morning. It's on one of my life goals. Other than living in France or dying my hair cotton candy pink, I want to learn pilates and do it on a daily basis. So anyway, my belly button feels like it has been sucked through my back. Like theres a giant hole in my stomach where my belly button should be, but it has been sucked through my back so now there's just this vacuum left. Like I'm a donut. And my ribs feel like they're constricted in a corset. Or like there's a giant abdominable snowman sitting on my chest.

Strange as it seems, it feels kind of nice.

And to explain what the title for this post is about:

I don't know if its just me, but everytime I go to throw clothes on, I always have this character or object in mind that I embrace. I know that Jessica does this too, except instead of aiming for 'Cupcake', 'Little Bo Peep' or 'Peter Pan' like I do, she goes for 'milk maid who is secretly in love with the barn boy' or 'sailor who secretly masturbates too much'.

Round and Round I Go

Meet my lounge room. Dress: T.L. Woods for Designers for Target, cardigan:Valleygirl, necklace: Stellar Jewellery, shoes: Isabella Brown, watch I wear everyday from DKNY.

Its a friday night, I was bored and had a lot of time before I had to leave the house, so I decided to mess around with the ISO on my camera. And spin around in circles.

I highly recommend you against spinning around in heels, on cold hard tiles. I took ten minutes to recover from all that spinning. I think I might be aging.

The Sailor Went To Sea Sea Sea

I bet my absence has not made your heart grow fonder. In fact, I think you might be waving your clenched fists at the screen and muttering blasphemy under your breaths like a bunch of drunken sailors.

Speaking of which, I have started to make my dress for the cruise! If I was a rich girl, I would save myself the trouble and buy one of the following:

Marc by Marc Jacobs: IT LOOKS LIKE LIQUID GOLD, I love it. Kate Moss wore it not too long ago. With a gold turban in fact. I doubt I could pull of a gold turban though.

Marc by Marc Jacobs. An oldie but such a goodie.

Erin Fetherston. Pair with Mickey Mouse ears.

Balmain. OMG LOVE, LOVE, LOOOOOVE.

Alexander Wang- it so simple but I think that's what makes it beautiful. Although my opinion may be biased; the dress does have a hanky hem after all. I am very partial to hanky hems.

Alexander McQueen- one shouldered + giant ruffles = heaven.

Erin Fetherston- also heaven. I feel like burying my face in the cloud-like bubble hem of the dress.

But alas, I am not a rich girl, and will have to settle for making my own dress.

P.S. I can't be bothered turning the comments on and off anymore, so they will henceforth be permantly on! *horns blow and choruses of heavenly voices sing and sparkly confetti starts to fall*

Another Man's Treasure

Ally lace leotard, Cotton On black singlet (worn underneath leotard), self made skirt, Bebe Sydney knit cardigan, grandmother's second hand belt, Lipstik heels, and rings from various places.

I seriously love that belt, you can't see the pattern too well in the picture, so here's a close-up:

It was a sunny day so I decided to go out onto the balcony to take these pictures. I would've gone out to the backyard but I didn't want the dog to slobber over my brand new heels. I'll change location weekly so the background wont get too repetitive. YAY, hoooooooouse toooooouuuur!

And guess what I found while searching through my dad's drawers for batteries for the camera?

They were completely covered in dust when I found them, so I assume my dad doesn't need them anymore. I cleaned up these babies and now they're so shiny, you can see my camera through the reflection. Yippeeeeeeeee.

Fréya

From Fréya:

Monochromatic

It just so happens that two people asked me to take pictures of what I wore to church today, and since I haven't blogged in almost a week, I decided to do an outfit post! I think I've mentioned doing outfit posts before, and since my blogging partner has abandoned me and earmuffed.com is technically mine (well, for the time being), I suppose I can do whatever I want with this blog. And that means bombarding it with outfit posts until I can be bothered blogging something decent.

What I wore to church:

Blouse: thrifted from Salvos, dress: Forcast, jacket: bought from some market, heels: Pierre Cardin

Close up on buttons:

Close up on the collar:

I try to be colourful. I really really do. I intended on wearing my new denim skirt and beige cocoon knit. And yes, I know denim and beige are a far cry from 'colourful', but they say you should start with babysteps right? Yeah, but I couldn't even manage that. I promise to try harder next time, maybe I'll throw on my red trench or something.

Our school's cruise is nearing (for those of you who aren't familiar with the occasion, it's basically a formal or prom, but on a boat). I feel so stressed out when trying to figure out what I'd make to wear. And no, not because I don't know what to wear- its the opposite actually. I want to wear too many things. If I could have my way, I'd have about 30 dress changes throughout the night. My brain is going to explode from thinking too much- everytime I think I have a dress I'd settle for, another one somehow pops up into my head, and then more and more ideas spring up like baby rabbits in mating season.

Anyway, back to the idea of outfit posts: should I continue or non? Lets weigh the pros and cons:

Pros:
- I can document my style, look back in 10 years, and laugh
- It means I'd have to blog properly less, leaving me more time to do crap
- My blog would have more variety
- Change is good

Cons:
- Do I have enough willpower to take pictures of my outfits on a weekly basis?

That's basically it. I know that the pros appear to outweigh the cons, but you must know that I don't have much willpower. And the one con is heavy enough to outweigh all the pros. What do you think?
