♥ Du Jour

SURPRISE! The first ♥ Du Jour in months! Sorry, this won't be a regular thing though. I just thought I'd do one every so often (not weekly though), whenever I feel writer's (blogger's?) block rising up. Okay here goes!

1. Lula Magazine: It's like a picture book filled with whimsical photos and illustrations. It's like a circus, a fair and a fairytale all mushed into a magazine. I LOVE IT, the photo editorials are so dream-like and ethereal, the type and design of the pages are wonderful, the whole magazine looks really clean and simple, and the clothes are amazing.

2. All white interiors: I feel the need to redecorate my room again. My room just feels so cluttered and warm at the moment, and I just want to get rid of everything and have SPAAAAACE and LIIIIIIIGHT. I'm thinking all white. It can't be that hard, everything is already white except for one wall, which I could just paint over. Inspirational pictures:

3. Chitchats in cafes on cold winter days: It's occuring more often nowadays, where I find myself drifting towards coffee shops when I'm out with friends. We would order something warm, sit around a table, and talk about anything and everything. Just a few weeks ago, a couple of friends and I sat at Starbucks in Circular Quay for close to two hours, just talking about lovermen and childhoods. It was lovely.

4. Chanel two-toned stockings: I have no idea why I'm so obssessed with them at the moment, but I think they'd be exhilarating to wear. They'd make any pair of legs look endlessly long, and theres the whole surprise element when you walk past a person who at first thought you had cream coloured stockings on, then they realise that your stockings are black at the back. I WANT A PAIR SO BAD, but they're $230 a pair. Sigh.

5. Amazing finds on ebay: I know I'm spending waaaaay too much time and money on ebay, but I love finding a pair of wonderful shoes or a really nice ring on ebay, for dirt cheap prices. Its a really nice progression of emotions: first you see the godly shoes/ring/whatever you're looking for. Your heart skips a beat, your breath is taken away by the beauty of it. You glance over at the price nervously, thinking it has to cost heaaaps. You realise that it is ridiculously cheap, your pulse quickens, you start sweating with excitement. You click the item, a little bit of doubt crosses your mind; what if it's the wrong size? What if the seller is a psycho? What if the item once belonged to a dead person? After you are reassured that yes, it's your size! And the seller is completely sane! And the item is brand new! Your stomach whoops and you sigh with relief and then you place your bid and win the item and wait excitedly, checking your post everyday until the item arrives. It's a wonderful process.

Earmuffed.com's 1 year anniversary is nearing, and I want a change. I don't know what yet. I'm happy with the layout at current, but everything is starting to feel repetitive. Perhaps Jenny and I will reinstall the comments? I was also thinking of starting outfit posts, but Jenny is insistently lazy and refuses to participate, so that idea is dead (unless you guys can convince her to stop being such a party pooper *nudge nudge hint hint*).

1. That Balmain dress: no, no- I haven't gone insane. I realise that this dress was last season's, and yes this season's collection was spectacular, but I came across this picture the other day:

Before seeing this picture, I was already in love with the dress. But when I saw this picture, my head was practically shrieking 'OH CRAP THAT DRESS REALLY IS BEAUTIFUL'. Sigh. When I'm old and rich, I'm going to buy that dress, put it on everyday and prance around in front of the mirror for the sake of admiring it.

2. Those boots from the Nina Ricci show: from a distance, they just look like super chunky lace up boots, right? But behold:

THERE IS NO HEEL! I find that truly amazing. I remember Posh Spice wearing heel-less boots a few months ago, but it seems like these boots might be going main-stream. Ouch.

3. Pretty cupcakes: they're cute and delectable and you aren't obliged to share!

4. Some Girls Wander: super duper cute website (click here!) and I'm crazily in love with the layout.

5. Disney Couture jewellery: This stuff is adorable. I want a pumpkin carriage necklace. Think of all the things I could wear it with! And that's not all....

It opens! And there's a shoe inside! And I can probably smuggle other strange things inside too. So many uses.

I also want:
This Twitterpated enamel bangle,

and this 'Think a wonderful thought' chain.

You can buy them all at miijo.com.

Anywhos, guess what? You just finished reading Earmuffed.com's FINAL POST.

Yes that is right, Juicebox and I are shutting this place down. After realising that being a senior was way harder than we anticipated, we think it's about time we stopped blogging. School work really is draining all our energy and time, and we only have a few months left before we no longer own the earmuffed.com domain anyway, so yeah. It seems like the right thing to do.

So au revoir, darlings.

P.S. HAHAHAHAHA I almost had you there, didn't I? You have my permission to stop panicking immediately. We will not be shutting this place down at all. No, we love our blog way too damn much.

P.P.S. However, we will be blogging slightly less, to keep up with schooling. But do not panic, the change will be so insignificant that you won't notice it at all. So no that was not the last post you've read from earmuffed.com, but it is the last ♥ Du Jour. So go up and read it again. And again.

And again.

Red: I think it started when I was shoe shopping for my formal. The red version of any shoe seemed to outshine the other coloured versions. But it was too bad that I couldn’t simply just snap up a pair of killer red heels. I would have looked like I was in a serious need of colour co-ordination classes. So I stuck to my silver-but-would-have-looked-better-in-red heels instead.

Speaking of the formal, who misses it?! Damn, our cruise better be just as good. I am not liking what I see about it right now, but I digress. Back to the formal. I’m missing a lot of things right now, like carefree days, our formal, and year nine camp, and days where I could sit in front of the computer and actually be confident that there was nothing I actually should be doing. Unlike right now, where I really should be studying for my Biology test.

Dressing up: It’s always fun to go through someone else’s wardrobe, and that was exactly what we did last Sunday at Teacup’s. Yeh okay, I know you’ve seen the pictures and you probably think we’re lunatics, but try it. It’s actually a lot funner than you would imagine. There’s something extremely funny about pulling on massive amounts of awkwardly co-ordinated pieces of clothing.

D&G Collection: Have you guys seen it?! Omg, it is phenomenal. I’ve also found version #43509874958745 of my cruise dress. More about this on Saturday.

Being organised: I’ve printed off term planners and they sit (stick?) right beside me on the wall right next to my timetable. It forecasts that week 7 will be panic-fest, and that if I don’t start studying for my Biology test soon, it will be death by a certain biology teacher. I’ve also bought multiple lever arch folders in assorted colours, one for each subject. They make up a rainbow on my shelf.

Imagining perfect lovermen: The other day, some of the girls and I got together to describe each other's imaginary perfect lovers. Extremely fun, passes time well, HILARIOUS, and highly recommended. My perfect man, according to Van & Juicebox:
Must be hilarious, musical and/or creative in other ways, able to appreciate beautiful things, a good dresser, smells delectable, has adorable eyes so we can have adorable children with adorable eyes, light skin tone, intelligent but not in the bookish way; but rather culturally aware and witty, easily humoured, has a big smile with bright eyes that sparkle when they fall upon something fascinating (like his lover, i.e. MOI), big warm hands to hold in winter a must.
Those shoes from the latest 3.1 Phillip Lam collection: A wonderful combination of super-hardcore-motorbike-chic and feminine-girlie-lacy-primness. I want them soo bad.

SJP's Dior Couture Dress: she wore this to the the Oscars yesterday. It's so floaty and fairytale-esque, the PERFECT shade of mint, and OMG at all that tulle. Plus the beaded detail on the bustier is immaculate, and I've always had a thing for belted-cinched-waists, so extra points to this dress from me.

Fond Childhood Memories: silly thoughts and concepts, ridiculous plans that never worked out, the eagerness to learn, even though we all thought we knew everything, being able to do comical things for the sake of it, childhood crushes, endless possibilities and limitless dreams. For my 16th this year, I'm making the girls come over to relive our childhoods by forcing them to watch the Disney classics, like Dumbo, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. I was going to get them to come dressed up as birds as well, but I thought that might've been going too far. I'm excited!

Crossing things off my to do list: anyone who has any classes with me would know that I carry around a huge blue diary resembling a bible. But rest assured that it is not a bible. Nope, it's just filled, with to do lists for every single day. I write down everything: when I need to blog, when I should go buy those pair of shoes I've been looking for, when I should watch Gossip Girl, when my favourite designers are showing at Fashion Week, and homework (of course). Being able to cross off things (especially the homework) has a profound calming effect on me.

♥ Du Jour

1. fakekarl on Twitter: A Karl Lagerfeld impersonator. Whoever they are, they’re hilarious. When I first discovered it, I went back and read all the tweets he’s ever sent. They’re so funny I think I could do that all over again, hmm.

2. whatchuckwore: For all the Gossip Girl fans out there. Also discovered from Twitter. It’s only new, but I’m liking what I see. Not quite as funny as Karl, hmm, but funny enough to keep me entertained.

3. New York Fashion Week: My effort of shunning from fashion shows has tragically failed. So now instead of doing my homework like anyone in their right mind would be, I am clicking away at runway collections. More on this on Saturday.

4. Elle Macpherson Intimates: My efforts of shunning Elle Macpherson has also tragically failed. It was actually going pretty well, until I got to see them in real life. Sigh, drooling over things on the Internet is so much easier than when they're right in front of you screaming 'Look at me, aren't I pretty?! You're an idiot if you don't think so.' I blame certain ‘Scottees’. You know who you are.

5. Rainy Tuesdays: Right, it's allowed to rain on Tuesdays, but not on any other day! I love that we're allowed to leave school a whole two hours earlier. Today, I went to pick my brother up from pre-school. I realised how small everything is compared to how I had remembered them to be. It was really weird to walk through a place where I had once spent a whole six years of my life in. There were a lot of teachers I couldn't recognise, but the ones that I did, couldn't recognise me anymore.

♥ Du Jour

1. Nougat: am eating as I type. I have a whole kilo of it right beside my keyboard. Someone steal it from me. I’m eating them like crazy, but I honestly didn’t know what they were made of until a few moments ago. Google tells me they’re “nuts or fruit pieces in a sugar paste”. Sugar paste. Makes it sound so unhealthy and disgusting. And I thought it was yogurt or something.

2. Twitter: is so much more fun now that I actually KNOW half the people I follow. That isn’t to say half the tweets I receive are from you guys though. Twitter more, people!

3. Ceclia Ahern’s ‘The Gift’: Awesome, like all Ahern’s books. Tells a story about time. Will make you cry. Definitely made me cry.

4. Bath bombs: I don’t even remember the last time I actually look a bath, but I discovered a collection of bath bombs in my bathroom the other day. Needless to say, they were really old and didn’t look like they still useable. Dust had gathered all around them, although they still smelt like heaven underneath the wrapper.

5. My air-con: No kidding, I’d be dead right now without it.

♥ Du Jour

1. So my Moleskine arrived: Though I haven’t really had the chance to use it properly yet. I mean, what planning does sitting in front of the computer all day long need? But I love it so, and I can’t wait until school starts!

2. Yeh, I can’t wait until school starts: The first day of school is always exciting- the new timetable, the new people, and I heard the school has undergone a whole makeover. Blue apparently, is all we’ll be seeing for a while.

3. Cute T-shirt and bags with even cuter logos: I love love love them. Especially the ‘Oui Oui’ t-shirt. Shame they’re out of my price range though. See here.

4. ‘Moonlight Resonance’: I’ve started watching dramas with my mum again. There’s nothing better to do these days, and it keeps my mind off things. But that doesn’t mean the drama isn’t worth watching though. I love it so. It’s the sequel to ‘Heart of Greed’ and tells the story of a family and their feud over a family bakery. The love scenes had me swooning like a little girl, the jokes made me laugh like a lunatic, whilst other scenes literally broke my heart in two.

5. The Guyde: Something someone showed me the other day. Something I think is fantastical. Something every guy should read. Something you should show all guys. Something you should click.

♥ Du Jour

Oxford Heels: They're so prim, yet provocative and chic. I would buy a pair in an instant if only our school allowed stilettos. We don't even get to wear Mary Janes. Nope, it's just dull leather laced shoes with little or no heel, and nothing anywhere near a stiletto heel. Not even kitten heels would be permitted.

Klukeart.com: Terribly cute website with terribly cute graphics and goodies for downloading. My desktop is currently decked out in klukeart goodies:

Cute, non? The cake icons are my fave. =] The paisley desktop wallpaper + icons made me re-think my dislike for paisley.

Look books / inspiration walls: I ran across a thread on personal look books on tFS the other day (click here!), and was greatly inspired to start my own lookbook. Unfortunately, my printer is currently kaput, and I refuse to cut into any of my magazines, so I haven't been able to start. However, I think it's a great idea for those days where you have absolutely no idea what to wear, or can't seem to coordinate an outfit together.

Smiling: It is underrated. Everyone should smile more often. Because I work in an environment where I am paid to plaster a smile on my face all the time, I've learnt that if you flash someone a smile, they will feel obliged to smile back at you, then everyone is happy. It's a win-win situation. Even on those days where I come to work completely PMSed and it almost kills me to put on a smile, after a few hours of smiling not stop, it eventually wears me out and I can't help but to feel happy.

Being A Pisces: I am proud to be a Pisces. I only half-heartedly believe in this fancy schmancy stuff, but I can't help but feel hopeful after reading my yearly horoscope from Rushh. According to Rushh, I will find love in January, grow mentally strong in March, good things will come effortlessly, and I will be a very rich girl by the end of the year. It puts me in an optimistic mood, even if it is only false hope. But really, I have faith in my horoscope this year. The three words they used to describe me really won me over: 'Creative, Intuitive, & Temperamental'. Yipee for 2009.

1. Sales: So I managed to get myself on a little bit of cash the other day, and went out to Livo for some retail therapy. In my typical style, I blew the majority of it off in the first hour and spent the next five hours wandering around, window shopping, losing Jenny N and contemplating contacting the Information Desk.

2. Stationery shopping: School is three weeks away, we’re not even half-way through our school holidays yet, and already school supplies are going on sale. I haven’t bought anything yet, but I’ve been itching to do so. I love buying new books and stationery, probably because they’re all so neat and tidy looking, though I know it’s only a matter of time before they start to be otherwise.

3. Ecofont: An eco-friendly font. Yes, there is such a thing. It supposedly uses up to 20% less ink when printing. How? There are tiny circles placed within the characters to reduce the total ink/toner laid upon the paper. See here.

4. Exclusive websites: You know, the ones that are invite only? I’m only part of two, Lookbook. and The Fashion Spot, but they’re enough to make me feel special.

5. Vegetarian Ravioli: My lunch yesterday. Many people think all vegetarians eat are vegetables, but there are a whole heap of vegetarian alternatives for basically any food out there.

♥ Du Jour

Frankie Magazine: magazines usually served only one purpose for me: to flip through backwards, stopping only to glance at something if it interested me, reading a few paragraphs of articles until I grew bored, and to look at the pretty ads and the editorials. But then I found frankie. Yes, it's spelt with a small 'F'. I knew that frankie had been around for a while, but I never really bothered to go through it properly. Fate, (no actually, boredom), eventually led me to the magazine, and before I knew it, I fell completely and utterly in love with frankie. The editorials aren't fantastic, but the words! MY GOD, THE WORDS!! All the articles are completely amazing and hilarious and quirky, and GENIUS. ABSOLUTE GENIUS. I love frankie.

The Other Boleyn Girl: Nobody really knows how much I love time pieces, or historic movies. I guess that's because all my other favourite genre of movies are Romance, Chick Flicks, and movies involving a lot of dancing. But I guess that deep inside me somewhere, is a geek. Because I really am a sucker for historic movies. And the Other Boleyn Girl is just that. It's so suspenseful and romantic, but evil. Natalie Portman in the movie is so evil and cunning and conniving. It's terrific.

Flipping through old photos: I love that warm fuzzy feeling I get from flipping through old photos. I guess its a combination of happiness, nostalgia and regret. You may think that old photos only really show physical changes. That is kind of true- I was going through all the photos of my friends, taken within the last 4 years, and it amazes me to see how our young, excited faces have changed so much. But it's not just physical. People's personality or social changes are shown, in the way they dress, the way they do their hair, the way they hold themselves. I see people growing more confident and happy, and others more mature, understanding, or perhaps burdened.

Jaffas: I really do hate oranges, but for some unexplainable reason, I completely love Jaffas. You can eat them in many different ways, and it'll still feel like heaven in your mouth. My favourite ways of eating Jaffas? I either chew it (not exactly good for your teeth, I dont recommend this), and let the hard sugary shell mix with the fruity-chocolatey inside, or I just let it sit on my tongue and melt. Then the hard outside slowly disintegrates and the warm gooey inside melts and oozes out. I'm making myself hungry, I should stop.

Emily Blunt: She played the evil snobby assistant in The Devil Wears Prada. which I watched a while ago but I didn't really think much of her performance in that. But I recently watched The Jane Austen Book Club in which she stars as a troubled French teacher, who has a stupid Neanderthal of a husband, and whom she strains to live with, as she falls in love with one of her students.

1. Double sided tape is my new god. No kidding. I discovered it when my dress needed some sticking power for the formal, and I have fallen in love since. At that time, everyone thought I was a total weirdo for even thinking about sticking my dress to myself, and I had to explain to them it was totally normal, and yes, there is such thing as double-sided tape made for clothing. I’m not using the cheap craft double-sided tapes you get from Big W when you’re scrapbooking.

What’s best however, is that they have a whole variety of uses. They come in handy when you’re trying to wrap Christmas presents, or when you’re trying to seal a plastic bag, or when your belt keeps sliding off funny. Or you could always use it for scrapbooking, I guess. Like those cheap double-sided tapes you get from Big W.

2. Moleskines: I am going to get one as my diary for next year. What’s so special about them? They feeeeel like heaven. And apparently, they’re really good quality too. But I can’t say, because I’ve never really owned one. But I will! Soon enough.

3. ‘Chocolat’: This movie may be too sweet for its own good, but it is beauuutiful. Honestly, it’s romantic, leaves you with a warm fuzzy feeling, and it’s set in France! FRANCE! What more could you ask for?!

4. Reading: I've finally gotten back into reading. I used to read like a crazy bookworm until one day I simply stopped. I don't know why. Maybe it was stress from school or something, but I gave it up altogether. But now that its the holidays and I've more time on my hands, I'm reading like crazy again.

5. Darrell Lea’s Rocklea Road: I really shouldn’t be eating chocolate right now. I’m not even to THINK about chocolate in the next two years of my life, says my orthodontist. Sure, I nod. Whatever you say.

Do you HONESTLY expect me to stay away from chocolate for the next two years of my life?! I don’t think you do, so I am going to act accordingly and shove another piece of rocky road in my mouth. Hah!

♥ Du Jour

Strawberry licorice: it's getting stuck between my teeth as I speak, but that's okay because it's lovely taste makes up for all the sticky business

Twister: We were playing this at Sophie's house just the other day (more of this on Thursday), and even though it feels like you're doing yoga with people's limbs intertwined into yours, it's great fun..

Fairy lights: I love the look of fairy lights in shop windows, front of houses and on Christmas trees.

Postsecret.com: this website manages to make me laugh out loud, cry, and melt inside. Some of the postcards are so sad, whilst others are so sweet. It makes my day every Sunday.

Black sequins: they're glitzy and glamorous at the same time. It's a newfound obsession.

♥ Du Jour

1. Kris Kringle: So it’s finally over. And it was, THANK GOD, a success. Only two people managed to forget their presents despite both Teacup and my constant reminders throughout the week. They have their chance to redeem themselves tomorrow, and another reminder will be going their way soon enough.
I received a pair of bleach washed skinny jeans from Phuong, which I adore. Thank you, sweetie!

2. Christmas: Following on from above, I am loving the Christmas spirit! Teacup has got me into listening to Christmas carols on repeat, and they are absolutely impossible not to start singing along to. Even if, I get weird looks thrown at me from my sister every now and then.

3. My new wardrobe: I received a tonne of new clothes from work experience recently, and I LOVE getting dressed even more than I used to.

4. Owned on Facebook: I am addicted. It is so stupidly addictive. And a waste of time. And pointless. But I am addicted to it nonetheless. The idea of making big money, even if it is only “lunch money”, is drugging me.

5. Anticipating the school holidays: For once in a very long time, I actually have things PLANNED. Well, I’m not entirely planning anything, but there are things planned. Which I plan to attend. Like Van's beach outing.

♥ Du Jour

I’m on work experience this week with Teacup at a fashion company in the city, and although I am so damn tired at the moment, I am enjoying every single second of it. So, as my ♥ du jour this week, I’ll tell you all about my joys at work experience.

1. The clothes: There are literally racks and racks of clothes in there, all colour coordinated, all very nice. It is my dream to be able to walk in there and dress myself every morning. I want to live there!

2. The freebies: Teacup and I have already taken reels of fabric home. We've gathered a lot of satin, silk chiffon, lace and tulle, with which Teacup is going to turn into tutus for the both of us. The whole process was very sneezey. The fabric room upstairs is very dusty and we constantly sneeze while inhaling a heap of dust. But that’s not the best part! Our supervisor has promised us free clothes at the end of the week! I am so excited.

3. The environment: The people there are extremely friendly. It’s a family business. The parents are in charge of the whole company, and each of the children take a different sector. Isn’t that so sweet? I wouldn’t mind working there at all.

4. The city: I love how everything’s so busy. All hustle and bustle. I guess the negative side to this is the crowdedness of the trains every morning/evening, but once you find yourself a seat, it’s all good.

5. The laughter: We had to take down racks and racks of clothes and hang them on the racks downstairs in time for the sale next week. Our work can be seen here:

But that picture shows nothing. You have no idea how much effort and trouble we put into taking all those dresses downstairs. We had to wheel them, rack at a time, down a very steep slope, up a kurby thing, through a door, and then take them off the racks, and put them onto those racks you see above.

Certain misfortunes include the whole rack collapsing, causing all the clothes to fall off in the middle of the street. What's worst is that a woman walking her dog happened to walk past, and I swear the dog was going to pee on all of the dresses if it wasn't so confined with its leash.

So whilst we grew bored of putting clothes on racks...

We saw this dress and we immediately thought of you, Jessica. It's very you. Especially the pattern at the bottom. What do you think?

Since Juicebox and I are both lazy bums, we've decided to christen this month guest contributor month! So meet this week's guest blogger: Ida.
The 5 things I like...
Well, apart from my special someone. There are other things I like... possibly love <3. style="font-weight: bold;">Cooking: especially cupcakes and desserts.

Maths: As most people know, another wonderful passion I have is Maths! J'adore maths <3. style="font-weight: bold;">Friends: they're the necessity for life, they are there to keep you grounded and to have FUN!

My iPod: it's another thing i can't live without. PLUS, it's engraced with my name!

Roxy: Very last but not least. I meant, Roxy the brand. The surf brand. One of my favourite things is Rozy stuff!

Anyways, that's all... for now.

♥ Du Jour: Guest

Ok. So, it’s supposed to be my ♥ Du Jour day today, but I have a surprise for you all! (Gotta be spontaneous sometimes, you know?)

No, I have not abandoned tradition, and no I am not going to ditch this week’s segment. Well, I sort of, kind of am. Only kind of, because what we have here darlings, is a guest blogger!

Let us all warmly welcome Miss Jenny Nguyen. Have fun, sweetie!

1. Sneezing: One of the most desirable actions to perform when you’ve got a strong urge to keep it in and prevent your heart from jumping out of your nose. The satisfaction it grants you afterwards is extremely rewarding and can sometimes bring you to the brink of tears. Sneezing, in a peculiar way shakes me from my depressing mood and puts me in a more alert state. It is a message from god who warns me that I will soon get sick. Oh I love sneezing.

2. Jensen Ackles: otherwise known as the character who plays Dean on Supernatural. Oh he is so hot. What can I say? His features are admirable and I just want to stare at the TV forever.

3. Gothic lolitas:
I’ve always appreciated their existence, but now, they’ve grown into an obsession. With the formal coming up and me having nothing to wear, they have been the idealistic style of dress that will catch my eye. Its so mysterious and sexy and lacy and gorgeous looking. Oh I hope I get one for the formal.

4. Maple story:
This is the game that have both placed meaning into my life and adversely ruined it. I’ve played maplestory since year 6 but stop for a while because having other people steal your money due to having such a laggy internet is an EXTREME PISS-OFF. So when I finally got broadband, maplestory continued its reign on my life. There’s so much to love about it. Meeting people, scamming people, pissing people off, making money or just training around to level up makes my heart swell with utter delight. With the privilege of getting to play such a fun game, I’ve also realise that my brain matter is slowly decreasing to zero and my stupidness contributes to my marks. So, however much I love maplestory, I will stop at the end of this year unfortunately. But I still love it nonetheless and will resume playing in 2 years.

5. Sleep:
Sleep, the next best thing to sneezing, or it can be classified before sneezing. I love sleep. It makes the world a whole lot better of a place to live in. If I didn’t have sleep I wouldn’t be able to get the countless depressing matters concerning my life out of my head and it would’ve accumulated and exploded my brain. It’s a world that you can create and can shapeshift it however you like, which is why I love it so.

Yes, that's Jenny Nguyen for you this week. Don't you love her?

Anyways, do you
want to contribute to our blog? Tell us if you do, and we'll get you to blog for us whenever we're feeling a little lazy.

1. My soon-to-be Anna Sui wallet:
well technically, it's already mine. It just has yet to reach my hands. I discovered it on ebay last week and after much contemplating, ordered Van to buy it for me. FOR $40(AU)!!! The original selling price was US$169, and at our current economic crisis, it should've costed me $252. Isn't it looooovely?

2. Going shoe-shopping: Last friday, I went to buy shoes for the formal. It was so fun. Yet so tiring. I literally stepped in and out of dozens of shoes, and if you know me well enough, you'd know that I'm very very undecisive. Meaning that before I buy something as expensive or as important as my formal shoes, I would have to try on every pair of shoes that fit the criteria, in every single shoe store before I could decide. Unfortunately, I couldn't buy the shoes that I fell in love with the moment I laid my eyes on them. Thats because they were 14cm high (completely unwalkable in), and $120 (completely unspendable on.)

3. Black lace: I have this thing with black lace. I don't know why or how, but I absolutely love black lace, and will fall completely head over heels in love with most things containing black lace. Is that weird? Do normal people like black lace with such passion?

4. If You Could See Me Now by Cecelia Ahern: forget the book, I love Cecelia Ahern herself. All her books are so... WONDERFUL. They all contain whimsical themes and modern fairytale-esque plots. However, my favourite book from her is If You Could See Me Now, which explores the possibility of invisible friends. It's about a young woman who is too caught up in her work and too closed minded to accept new different things, but eventually learns to let go of her insecurities and what others think of her. It's so sad and melancholic, yet playful. All her books feel make me feel somewhat nostalgic. You have to read her books. I could go on and on about her, or write a whole post about Cecelia Ahern, but I'll leave it up to you to do some research on her.

5. Leblackbook.com.au: click here to lookie. It's an online store, stocking heaps of Australian designer including Anna & Boy, Bowie, Rachel Gilbert and Fleur Wood. They sell all types of clothing, from swimwear to formal dresses. Items I'm loving from leblackbook: satin dress from Rachel Gilbert, black jacket from Shakuhachi, and I LOVELOVELOVE this white Velerie Tolosa dresss.

♥ Du Jour

So, my weekly dosage of obsessions consist of:

1. Red Heels: Shopping for the perfect pair of heels has made me realise how much I love a pair of red heels. They’re so pretty, and vibrant. Too bad red heels would in no way go with my dress.
*Sighs* For my next formal event, I am going to make sure to buy a dress that would go well with red heel.

2. Google Applications: I am slowly starting to use all of Google’s applications that come with my Google account. I use Google Analytics, Blogger, Calendar, Docs, Gmail, and iGoogle. I lost my diary in the middle of the year, so I use Google Calendar to keep track of my piling amounts of homework, and it surprisingly works! Maybe because it is constantly there staring at me in the face, and I can see that they’re due very soon, so I actually start doing them. A miracle.

3. Homemade soaps: No, I do not make soaps, I’d like to learn how to though! I came across The Soap Bar, this wonderful site that sells and promotes homemade soaps. They’re all delicious to look at, and they look heavenly to use. As the owner calls it, it’s soap porn! I'd even eat them, if the idea of eating soap didn't turn me off so much...

4. Who We Are- Lifehouse: American rock. Is it just me or something, because I only just discovered this band. I absolutely love every single track on this album. Not something easy to find.

5. Mint Ice-cream: Is it wrong that I have hated mint ice-cream all my life, and then suddenly like it? My cousin forced me to eat one the other day, and it was surprisingly not as bad as I would have imagined.
The people I catch the train with every morning all have a packet of mint in their bags, and they seem to eat from them every morning. Everytime they offer me one, I always politely reject. I don’t like mint, I tell them, never liked it. So I guess that’s going to change now!

Today, I ♥ :
1. My Baby: No I am not a teenage mum, and no, I did not make love to a teddy bear. Van and I won our baby from a raffle, but Van decided to disown it, so my baby's mine now. His name is Jenny. And yes, he is a male. He is also going to be extremely stylish when he grows up (hence the bow on his head), and all the girls are gonna fall in love with him (not that they currently don't). I love him to bits.

2. The Chanel Mobile Art Exhibit: click here for a video of some of the exhibits. I love it so, but I am a tad upset that they aren't showing in Australia. I mean, the exhibit is travelling to everywhere, including New York, Paris and Tokyo. But not Australia =[ Featured above is my favourite exhibit- including the iconic quilted patterns on the walls, and the famous chains.

3. Zoozoom.com: click here to have a lookie- it's an online fashion magazine, and its free. They regularly update with fantastical editorials and stories. As much as I love it, it doesn't beat the sensation I get from flipping through the pages of a magazine. Backwards that is. Does anyone actually do that, or am I just weird? I have this thing with flipping through magazines backwards.

4. The Races: I love the fabulous-ness of the event. From the classy dresses to the outrageous headgear. Van, Juicebox and I plan to attend the year after we graduate (once we're old enough to walk around sipping the champagne)

5. Pretty Perfume Bottles: they turn me on. My favourite at the moment would have to be Miss Dior Cherie (it's so classique with the whole rectangular shape, but also very very cute), but I am also loving Christina Aguilera's fragrance (I really like the shape of the bottle and the lace. Especially the lace), Kate Moss's fragrance (it's so round and baubley), and Calvin Klein's Euphoria Blossom (actually, I love the smell of it too)

♥ Du Jour

Oh why hello non-existent readers.

No seriously, I bet there is no one reading this because you are all supposed to be off frantically staring at your notes thinking ‘What the hell, how am I supposed to remember this in time for the exam tomorrow?!’ I know I would be if it weren’t for this blog post.

Needless to say, you can see that I have prioritised this week’s Du Jour before my study. Wrong. I was forced by another certain co-blogger to fulfil this week’s segment. I’m sorry, but is it wrong to actually not want to fail?!

Ok, let’s just get this over and done with.

I am having a lot of trouble actually finding something remotely positive about my life right now, and the week of exams first thing back after the holiday isn’t exactly helping.

LOVELOVE

1. IST: Oh dear god, I cannot believe I just typed that. And you wouldn’t even be reading this if I weren’t in such a rush to finish this post off. But no, I must refrain from reaching for the ‘backspace’ key. This post needs to finish sometime in the near future, you know.
Well anyways, yes. Now that I actually think about it, I don’t mind my IST class. No, I do not like computers, nor do I like that programming assignment due today (in the middle of exam time?! Thank you, we really appreciate your appreciation of our time), but I really like my classmates. Here’s a special ‘thank you’ to those who I hassled throughout the week in attempt to take one tiny step closer to understanding what the hell the assignment was going on about. Yeh, I know that sort of, kind of meant shipping your assignment in the direction of my computer screen, but thank you.
Ok, that was spontaneous.

2. With Me- Sum 41: the song currently coming out of my speakers. It’s from the Gossip Girl Soundtrack, and that is the very reason why I love it so much. Everytime I listen to it, I relate it to the events that happened on the show, which gives the song so much more meaning, and makes it just that much more special.

Through it all, I made my mistakes
I stumble and fall, but I mean these words

I want you to know
With everything I won't let this go, these words are my heart and soul
I'll hold on to this moment you know, 'as I bleed my heart out to show
And I won't let go

3. Sugared Seaweed: Ok, you can stop looking at me weirdly now. I had no idea it was sugared seaweed when I ate it either. It tasted like plain old normal seaweed… with a twist. Ok, that doesn’t make sense. But it’s seaweed. Sugared. And it’s nice. Ask Jenny N for some.

4. My Geography Textbook: Hah! I can sense your eyebrows shooting up again. But please, I do not like geography, never did never will. Yesterday was my last Geography exam ever. Let’s all partyyy. Oh, wait, but no we have more exams.
Well anyways, back to my point. I.have.found.my.long.lost.geography.textbook. Hooray to me! I have saved myself $60. Or maybe it was $40 or something. Ok, you can see I am starting to desperately want to, no, need to finish this off.

5.
Juicebox says :
What do I like?
Teacup says :
ME
Teacup says :
ROFL

No, that was not a desperate attempt to hastily finish off. I love Teacup, I DO I DO!
